Coach Chris' Bio:

Question 1: Why do you coach? -
I coach because I love the game and enjoy working with kids. Coaching allows me to help mentor and pour into today’s youth both on and off the court. Basketball is just a tool we use or a way that I can share and communicate that passion with other like individuals. It’s not just about X’s and O’s on the court but building a relationship that these kids know I’m here to help them through it all.

Question 2: What has been your coaching experience to date? -
I’ve been helping run camps, clinics or coaching youth sports for about half my life It seems. I’ve coached a few years at Concordia University with the women’s basketball teams and have been helping run youth leagues or coaching club basketball for the last 5 years.

Question 3: Please share one of your favorite coaching moments. -
There are so many but really each kid having an “ah hah” or lightbulb moment in different phases or aspects of their bball journey.
On court it has to be buzzer beaters in bracket play and championship games for the win. Having the kids remember our “special” play and score at the end to win the game. Didn’t event draw it up just covered who was “where” and pass, pass, layup game winner.

Question 4: What’s your favorite college team and NBA team? -
My favorite college team is University of Tennessee Volunteers Go Vols
Favorite NBA team is LAKERS

Question 5: What’s an interesting fact about you? -
I’m a big history fan and have tons of useless sports stats memorized.

Coach Marshall's Bio:

Question 1: Why do you coach? -
I coach because I have a group of talented kids that I want to continue to challenge and pour my knowledge into. Knowing that I don't know everything is where my love for the continued learning comes in. I love the challenge of planning practices, watching scenarios and learning. I love the mixing and matching different matchups against other teams. It's like playing a game of chess game with the other coaches. Not having the skill to play college basketball is also another motive to continue coaching as I want to test and prove my knowledge against other coaches and trainers who have played at the highest level.

Question 2: What has been your coaching experience to date? -
My coaching experience thus far has been challenging but has really helped me grow as an individual. Being new to the area, I started coaching and gained a whole new family and made a lot of friends that have helped me in and out of basketball. Those relationships with the kids and others are lifetime for me and really have helped me find a purpose.

Question 3: Please share one of your favorite coaching moments. -
I don’t have a specific moment but my favorite thing about coaching is finally figuring out what makes a player go or what motivates an athlete.

Question 4: What’s your favorite college team and NBA team? -
Don’t have a specific college team but like watching a few coaches and teams.
(Kentucky, Virginia, and Villinova) Clippers

Question 5: What’s an interesting fact about you? -
I still faithfully play Pokemon Go.

Coach George's Bio

Question 1: Why do you coach? -
I coach because of the role and relationship you have the players you coach. A lot of players look up to their coaches and as a coach you may not realize it but how you carry yourself has a big impression on your players. I want to help my players learn how to play the game of basketball and life the right way. I also want to make sure they become great men off the court and not just on it. If my players make their high school teams then I feel like I completed my job. If any players ever make it further then high school then that’s just extra.

Question 2: What has been your coaching experience to date? -
I am starting my fourth year of coaching travel basketball.
Please share one of your favorite coaching moments
Beating a team in the championship in OT after losing to them Saturday by a solid margin, allowing to climb back and force OT, and them hitting a 3 to open OT. I just kept talking to my players to keep their heads up the game and fight through adversity and they did just that.

Question 3: What’s your favorite college team and NBA team? -
College: USC
NBA: Lakers

Question 4: What’s an interesting fact about you? -
I have a 15 year old cat who is still very active to this day.
